Day 29: Help “Fill the Bowl” at Tonight’s Women’s Hockey Game
The Wisconsin Badger Women’s Hockey team hopes to “Fill the Bowl” at tonight’s 7pm face-off against Minnesota. The Badgers have already broken several program records on the ice this season, and Wisconsin fans have the chance deliver a record-breaking performance of their own – in the stands.
Three attendance records stand to be broken in hopes of filling the entire lower level Kohl Center bowl.
The first, set in 2008, the last Badger’s Fill the Bowl game drew 5,377 fans, a previous women’s hockey single-game attendance record. The Badgers beat St.Cloud State 4-0.
According to UWBadgers.com, the second record UW has its sights on is the Kohl Center women’s hockey attendance record. In last season’s exhibition game against Team USA on Jan. 5, 2010, a record 6,085 fans showed their support of women’s hockey and in doing so set a new women’s hockey attendance record at the Kohl Center.
Finally, with fans’ help, the Badgers hope to break the current NCAA women’s hockey attendance record this weekend. Last year’s Culver’s Camp Randall Hockey Classic saw a record 8,263 fans attend the women’s game to break the previous NCAA women’s hockey attendance high of 6,889. UW skated to a 6-1 win over Bemidji State in the outdoor game held Feb. 6, 2010.
As an incentive, admission for all fans will be just $1. In addition, for every person in attendance, Becker Law Office will donate $1 to Second Harvest Foodbank. The UW will also be collecting non-perishable food items at the door.
All UW students will receive free admission to Fill the Bowl with a valid UW student ID.
The puck drops for the Fill the Bowl event at 7pm at the Kohl Center, located at 601 West Dayton Street, Madison.
