New Carbon Monoxide Detector Rule Takes Effect Today

[ 0 ] February 1, 2011 |

Starting today, February 1st, single- and two-family homes in Wisconsin will be required to have carbon monoxide detectors.

Under the law all properties that receive a new building permit must have carbon monoxide alarms directly wired into the building’s electrical system.

The new rule applies only to homes that contain carbon monoxide sources such as garages, heaters, furnaces and gas stoves.

Existing homes may use battery-powered alarms.

Need to purchase a Carbon Monoxide Detector?  Check out these available online, or visit your local hardware store.
